Many years ago, when my kids were small, I had a dream of becoming a school bus driver. I imagined them sitting in the front seats of my bus while I drove. It would be like free daycare for us.
I tried to pass the written test for this job twice but failed both times. I thought maybe I wasn't meant to do this and gave up on the idea. However, ten years later, I noticed something new: not only school buses but also vans were becoming common. I wondered if driving a van needed different tests, and after some thought, I decided to give it a try. I passed the test, and my kids started going to school.
One day, I saw a book called The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise that my child was reading. On the cover, there was a girl sitting on the roof of a school bus. This made me think about my old dream again. I decided to contact a school bus company to see if the opportunity was still there.
I called the company, and they invited me in. The assistant manager explained the job to me and said I would receive an email about the next steps. However, I didn't get the email. Today, I called the manager again, and they sent me a link for the hiring process. I have now applied for the position.
