— Natasha, thank you for joining us today. Can you tell us more about your journey into becoming a school bus driver?
— Absolutely! It's a pleasure to be here. My journey into becoming a school bus driver was quite unexpected. I stumbled upon the opportunity when I saw a flyer at a phone store while getting my own phone fixed. It felt like destiny because I hadn't considered driving a commercial vehicle before. I applied, went through the interview process, and started my training.
— That's a unique way to discover a career path! Could you share more about your training and the early days of your job?
— Of course. I began with the written part of training, learning the mechanics of the bus and how it operates. After passing the written test, I moved on to behind-the-wheel training. However, I needed to obtain a permit first, so there was a bit of preparation involved. It's been almost six years since then, and I can honestly say I love what I do. I never would have imagined it as my career, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.
— It's clear that you're passionate about your work. Could you tell us about the moments that stand out in your career?
— Absolutely, there are so many memorable moments. One that comes to mind is during my first year when a parent gifted me with tamales during the Christmas holiday. It was a simple gesture, but it meant a lot. Another cherished memory is when a student's mother thanked me for treating her son like my own. She appreciated my kindness and trust. It's moments like these that make this job so fulfilling.
— That's heartwarming to hear. Can you share your thoughts on working with special needs students?
— I absolutely enjoy working with special needs students. I'm special needs certified, and it's incredibly rewarding to help and support these children. It requires patience and understanding, but the connection you build and the progress you see are truly remarkable.
