Hingham Public Schools break ground on electric school bus project, reducing costs and offering cleaner rides

The Hingham Public Schools district has started a new project to replace three diesel school buses with electric ones — part of a plan to save money and give students cleaner, quieter rides. The buses are expected to run about 11,000 miles each year starting in February 2026. The project is supported by grants: $500,000 from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center and $600,000 from the EPA’s Clean School Bus Program. By working together with their vendors, Hingham is showing how innovation and sustainability can benefit students, drivers, and the whole community.
