Sacramento City Unified School District in California is continuing to grow its electric school bus program after adding seven new electric buses this school year. District officials said the buses have already helped save about 7,000 gallons of diesel fuel while supporting cleaner transportation for students.
The district now operates 19 electric school buses and plans to continue expanding the fleet over the next several years. School leaders said electric buses can reduce emissions, improve air quality, and lower long-term fuel costs for the district.
Officials also highlighted the quieter rides and environmental benefits electric buses provide for students and neighborhoods across Sacramento. The new buses were added with support from a regional air quality grant program focused on cleaner transportation solutions.
