School bus driver Chhiring Tamang helped save about 50 children during a devastating flood in Nepal.
Tamang picked up the students shortly before floodwaters destroyed their school. He drove the bus across a bridge that was washed away only minutes later.
As the water moved closer, the children became frightened and one student fainted. Tamang continued driving until the bus reached higher ground, where everyone was safe. He then finished taking the children home before parking the bus at a police station.
Although many people have called him a hero, Tamang said this remains a painful time because he lost a family member who worked at the school. His quick thinking and calm actions helped dozens of children escape the disaster.
